British Camelids Association (BCA)
The British Camelids Association is a registered charity which was established in 1987 to promote the welfare of camelids and good husbandry practice in the UK amongst alpaca and llama breeders. We will make donations each year to the BCA from our profits.
As part of the scanning surveillance program in the UK camelids are submitted to the Veterinary Laboratories Agency, Scottish Agricultural College or Veterinary Services Division (Northern Ireland). These Surveillance programs carried out by the Veterinary Laboratories Agency show that llamas and alpacas can suffer from Johnes disease and Bovine Viral Diarrhoea. They are also susceptible to other diseases such as Caseous Lymphadenitis, Fasciolisis and Sheep scab.
